Six local groups, businesses and organizations participated in the Healthiest State Annual Walk in Decorah Wednesday. Participants in Decorah walked for 30 minutes, joining thousands of walkers statewide.

The Healthiest State Annual Walk started in 2011, as a call to action for Iowans to take a step in the right direction for their health.

The local organizations that hosted walks were Safe Routes to School, IowaWORKS of Decorah, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, Northeast Iowa Montessori School, Collins Aerospace and Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation.

Participating groups are encouraged to submit the total number of walkers to the Healthiest State Initiative. For more information on the Healthiest State Annual Walk, visit: http://www.iowahealthieststate.com/events/annual-walk/.
