This year, the non-profit organization is committed to raising $130,000 to be disbursed among 16 non-profit agencies serving Winneshiek County residents. The United Way of Winneshiek County board and agency members are 100% volunteer based, meaning every dollar donated is given to agencies to help local residents.
The supported agencies rely on the United Way funds in order to continue providing multiple services to Winneshiek County. All donations, no matter the amount, are greatly appreciated. When combined every donation has a dramatic impact. Below are a few examples of how the funds can be utilized.
- Provide food for a child over the weekend so he or she does not have to wait to go back to school to eat.
- Assist families with heating costs throughout the cold winter months.
- A home care aid relieves a family member taking care of an elderly parent in order to allow them adequate time to rest.
- A family is provided a safe place to sleep after leaving a domestic violence situation athome.
The United Way of Winneshiek County exists so that, through sharing of financial resources, each resident of Winneshiek County can live a satisfying and productive life.
