"There goes the neighborhood," said one spectator as the house at 311 Riverview in Decorah began moving to a new location Monday morning.
Aylsworth House Movers of Wadena, which has moved two other houses in Decorah in recent years, was moving a house owned by Jim and Liz Fritz to a new location in the Haugen-Hummel subdivision. The Fritzes say they "have no firm plans" for the property at 311 Riverview, but they are putting the house in Haugen-Hummel up for sale as soon as a foundation is poured and the house is lowered onto it.
State Transportation Police were leading the interference on Highway 52 as the house got moved to its new location. Crew members from Aylsworth House Movers also took care of tree branches obstructing the move, while Alliant Energy employees were on hand to handle any power lines in the way.
