According to City Engineer Jeremy Bril, progress is being made on construction of the Oneota Drive Bridge.
Construction crews just finished pouring the bridge deck on the north half of the bridge. To allow for traffic (vehicle and pedestrian) to pass at all times, the bridge is being phased by building half at a time. The north half is being built first. Once it is finished, traffic will be transferred to the north half, the old bridge will be torn down, and the south half of the new bridge will be constructed.
Once complete, the bridge will provide a single lane for vehicle traffic and a shared use path for bikes, walkers, runners, etc. The bridge will be similar in style to the 5th Avenue Bridge. The project is scheduled to be completed this fall.
