Three members of the Iowa City chapter of "Moms Demand Action" will visit the Northeast Iowa Peace & Justice Center at 119 Winnebago Street in Decorah from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
Decorah native Lori Durian and Iowa City residents Temple Hiatt and Holly Sanger will talk about the "Be SMART" campaign, which has been created to raise awareness that responsible gun storage – storing guns locked, unloaded and separate from ammunition – can save children's lives. The campaign emphasizes that it's an adult responsibility to keep kids from accessing guns, and that every adult can play a role in keeping kids and communities safer.
A $5 - $15 sliding donation will be asked at the door. Coffee and treats will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend.
