A Decorah woman apparently fell asleep while driving an SUV in downtown Decorah Monday afternoon. When she woke up, her vehicle had run over a stoplight and was resting on a sidewalk.
Decorah Police say they were called to State Street and East Water Street shortly after 4:30 Monday afternoon. When they arrived, they found 29-year-old Amber Snow inside her SUV--which was resting on the sidewalk in front of MLB Tax and Accounting at 119 E Water Street.
Snow told officers she believes she fell asleep at the wheel and didn't remember the crash. Snow's car knocked over a stoplight, which slightly damaged a car driven by 60-year-old Barbara Bohach of Fort Atkinson.
Police say Snow didn't know about the accident until after she was awakened by a bystander. She was uninjured in the accident, but her vehicle had $5,000 worth of damage and the stoplight had almost $6,000 in damages.
Snow was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle.
