New sirens are being added to the county's alert system

If you have heard sirens sounding in the past day or two, there's a reason. Winneshiek County Emergency Management Director Sean Snyder says three new sirens are going on line this week and are getting integrated into the county's system.

The new sirens are being installed thanks to a $43,000 grant the county received from FEMA. The sirens are in Frankville, Freeport and Burr Oak,

Snyder says the siren system is being reprogrammed to integrate the three sirens, so the sirens could sound for the next day or two until the process is finished.
