Two vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon sends one person to the hospital

Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Quarry Hill Road around 4:15 Tuesday afternoon, responding to a report of an accident.

15-year-old Austin Henry of Decorah was traveling northbound on Quarry Hill Road, while 21-year-old Ellie Cooper of Lansing was traveling southbound. Henry crossed the center line of the gravel road and saw Cooper approaching.  He slammed on the brakes and skidded into Cooper's car.  

Cooper was extricated from the car by the Decorah Fire Department.  She was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Henry was cited for failure to maintain control.  The accident did a total of $14,500 in damages.
