Decorah City Council Tuesday evening will hear another request to fly flags

Winneshiek County Republican Party Chair and First District Congressional candidate Thomas Hansen is presenting another application to the Decorah City council. 

Hansen wants approval for an event in Water Street Park from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. that would be held in observance of Constitution Week.

The observance of Constitution Week was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution. DAR petitioned Congress in 1955 to set aside September 17th to the 23rd each year as Constitution Week, with the petition winning approval the next year.  Constitution Day is September 17th.

Hansen's request includes not just the use of the park but an application to fly historical American flags along Water Street on September 20th.
