Monday is the first day for county and city candidates to file nomination papers

Monday is the first day for candidates to file nominations papers for the September 24th City of Decorah Second Ward special election and for the November 5th regular election.
The two elections will have different deadlines. In the case of Decorah's Second Ward, candidates have until Friday to file a nomination paper with at least ten valid signatures. The September 24th election will determine which person serves on the Decorah City Council as the Second Ward representative through the end of 2019.
The November 5th regular election will be the first time that school district elections are on the same ballot as county and city elections. For these elections, nomination papers must be filed by September 19th.
Nominating petitions are available at
www.sos.iowa.gov, with the school board secretaries, with the city clerks, and at the County Auditor's office.
