Festina area teen stabs his mother

A 15-year-old is in custody at a juvenile facility in Waterloo after stabbing his mother Thursday afternoon at home near Festina.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office responded to a 9-1-1 call around 1:30 Thursday afternoon.  Upon arrival, deputies located a woman who still had a knife impaled.

The woman's son was taken into custody and transported to Northeast Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Black Hawk County, then was referred to Juvenile Court Services and charged with Class C Felony Willful Injury.

The mother was taken by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center with what are being described as, "serious, but non-life threatening injuries."
