The City of Decorah is making some progress on Locust Road.
The McClure Engineering Company has been hired by the City of Decorah to create a preliminary and a final roadway design for the proposed Locust Road Improvement Project.
Decorah City Council members are in agreement that Locust Road needs to be redone College Drive to Pine Crest Street. That project will be the base project submitted for contractor bids, while the Pine Crest Street to Highland Drive portion of Locust Road will be included as a bid alternative.
City council members also have agreed Locust Road should get widened shoulders. Those widened shoulders will handle pedestrian and bike traffic--there will not be sidewalks north of Shady Lane.
City officials hope to meet with McClure representatives by the end of August to discuss the design and scope of the Locust Road improvement.
