Decorah HS Student Kaia Neal earns a $500 scholarship

Decorah High School junior Kaia Neal has earned a $500 cash scholarship from the City of Literature program.

Neal submitted an essay about hearing the news of her family's upcoming move from their rural farm to a house in the city of Decorah.  The story culminates with Kaia's understanding that nature surrounds her and she returns to her family with the wisdom that wherever her family lives is her true home.
