The man stabbed early Tuesday morning in Decorah is listed in "fair" condition

John Schissel of New Mexico is listed in fair condition at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester after being stabbed by a Decorah resident early Tuesday morning.  His injuries are being described as "non-life threatening."

Schissel was taken to Rochester following a fight with 22-year-old Seth Schmidt of Decorah.  Decorah Police say Schmidt pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Schissel in the chest. Schmidt was arrested shortly after fleeing the scene.  He is now in custody in the Winneshiek County Jail on charges of willful injury and carrying weapons.
