Travel will be easier this weekend on Highway 52 in Fillmore County

Winneshiek County motorists heading north into Minnesota on Highway 52 will have slightly easier traveling this weekend. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the construction zone on Highway 52 in Chatfield will be cleared away and cleaned up downtown in time for Western Day in Chatfield.

Crews are adjusting the work to ensure it doesn't impede Western Days, which starts Thursday and runs through Sunday, with a parade on Saturday. Paving work will resume in Chatfield next week.

The detour on Highway 52 north of Chatfield will remain in place, however. That detour is from Olmsted County Road 7 north to Interstate 90 to Highway 52. Work continues on the culvert replacement work north of Chatfield. Construction elsewhere on the project will continue, but away from the event area.
