With the Police Chief's job filled, there will be other hirings needed

Decorah Assistant Police Chief David Smutzler is now Decorah Police Chief David Smutzler.

The Decorah City Council unanimously approved Smutzler's appointment to his new job on Monday night.  However, there will be other appointments needed in the police department.  Of course, Smutzler's appointment means the title of Assistant Police Chief will have to be filled.  Smutzler also notes that the police department has two officer vacancies at the present time.  He says getting the department back to full staffing will be his first priority.
