Two vehicle accident causes $15,000 in damages

The Decorah Police Department reports two motorists were involved in an accident Sunday evening.

67-year-old James Lukes of Decorah was stopped at the stop sign on Pulpit Rock Road attempting to turn left onto Hwy 52.  22-year-old Celia Gould of Decorah was traveling northbound on Hwy 52 approaching Pulpit Rock Road when Lukes pulled out in front of her. Gould attempted to avoid Lukes, but was unable to and struck the left rear of his vehicle. All airbags in both vehicles deployed.

Gould received minor injuries to her left wrist and right shoulder. She was checked by medics and refused medical treatment. Gould's vehicle was totaled and Lukes' vehicle sustained $5,000 of damage.
