In response to a Letter to the Editor last week remarking on downed streetlights on Commerce Drive, decorahnews.com has learned many streetlights in Decorah—including the Commerce Drive streetlights—are owned and maintained by both the city and Alliant Energy.

For the Commerce Drive streetlights, the lights are owned by Alliant Energy, but the poles and underground wiring belong to the city.

Last week, Alliant repaired a bad connection in one of the city's vaults and the street lights are again operating.
