Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors approves plans to repave the Smith Building parking lot

At Monday morning's Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board voted to approve plans to repave the parking lot of the Smith Building on Montgomery Street. The parking lot plans were presented to the Winneshiek Board of Supervisors by Maintenance Superintendent John Halverson.

The Smith Building parking lots suffers from heavy slanting and disproportionate drainage, cracked pavement, and crumbling pavement near the north of the parking lot, near the entrance to Winneshiek County Public Health's offices.

Halverson says a couple of trees will likely need to be removed while the north parking lot is regraded. Supervisor John Beard previously inspected the trees at the north end of the lot and agreed they should be removed.

Winneshiek County Supervisors accepted a local contractor's bid. Construction is expected to begin this year.
