Ask The Answer Person: How do they keep the Decorah flower baskets looking good?

Sally says, "The hanging baskets in Decorah are just beautiful every year with no signs of withering, even in the hot summer sun. What regimen, besides the obvious watering, do they receive to keep them looking so lovely?"

The Decorah Downtown Betterment Association is responsible for the hanging flower baskets in Decorah, so the Answer Person contacted DDBA board member Mike Harman for details. Harman says the baskets they use now contain a reservoir, so they don't need to be watered as often as they were in the past. Instead, the flowers are watered and lightly fertilized everyother day. "Consistency is key," says Harman.
