36 kids in kindergarten through third grade from Calmar and surrounding areas attended Calmar Summer Kids Club programs this summer. They chose one, two or three of the one-day, 6 hour educational programs, with a total of 77 camp enrollments.
The Winneshiek County Extension Office and Outreach and the City of Calmar partnered with teachers Angie McIntyre and Karen Smith at CFS Catholic Pre-School for summer programming. The first day taught kids about coding, programming, engineering and robots through the "Radical Robots" camp. The second day taught kids about rainbows, shadows, and the power of sunlight. The final program, "Once Upon a STEM", took youth through fairytales while engaging them in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
