Courthouse and Smith Building parking lots soon to be re-paved

At Monday morning's Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board reviewed plans to resurface the parking lots at the Winneshiek Courthouse and the Smith Building on Montgomery Street.

Both parking lots receive a lot of traffic. The Courthouse parking lot has issues with size, unevenness, and cracking. The Smith Building lot has heavy slanting and uneven drainage, cracked pavement, as well as crumbling pavement near the entrance to Winneshiek County Public Health offices.

County Supervisors accepted a local contractor's bid for both parking lots.  Construction is expected to begin this year.
