Besides the parade, there are plenty of activities for kids and parents alike to enjoy at Nordic Fest. Here are just a few:

Family Fun Forneloyse & Ping Pong Tournament - Decorah Covenant Church (115 Washington St.)
Friday 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Air conditioning, restrooms, family seating areas and stroller parking. Activities for all ages: Toddler Play Area with Bouncy House and Ping Pong.
Ping Pong Tournament with prizes:
Youth (under 17) - Friday at 4:00 p.m.
Adult - Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
Preregistration is required to enter tournaments. Register at Donlon Pharmacy)

Fiber Fun! - Vesterheim's Westby-Torgerson Education Center, third floor
Friday & Saturday 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Explore the world of weaving, spinning and textile production in this interactive space with a variety of demonstrators and hands-on activities.

Goats, Gruff & More - Grassy area by John Cline School
Saturday 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Petting goats & Scandinavian folklore.

Inflatables Obstacle Course & Basketball Toss - Near Softball Diamond 2
Friday & Saturday 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Kids' Play Area - Near The Courtyard & Cellar (421 W. Water St.)
Friday & Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Let the kids rest and/or play at this natural play area with seating and shade.

Maker Station & Table Games - In front of Cardboard Robot (110 Winnebago St.)
Friday 1:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Enjoy some low-tech fun and get creative with old-fashioned games: checkers, chess, foosball & other "unplugged" activities.

Making Nordic Vessels - Decorah Covenant Church parking lot (115 Washington St.)
Friday noon until 4:00 p.m.
Design and float your own Nordic sea-going vessels.

Park & Rec Activities for Kids - Softball Diamond 2
Friday 11:00 a.m. unti 1:00 p.m.
Decorah Park & Rec will host activities for youth ages 1 to 10. A wide variety of fun, free activities for children to take part in. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times while participating.

Photo Opportunity/Cutouts & Map Pinning - Near Canopy 1 Information and Interactive Tent (Water St. & State St.)
Friday 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Saturday after Parade until 5:00 p.m.
Create a fun photo memory of this year's Fest at the photo-op station.

Racing the Sun (Solar Cars) - East Water St.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Design a solar powered car and use the sun to energize it for a ramp race.

Troll Badeland (Water Play Area) & Map Activity - Water Play Area (418 W. Water St.)
Friday 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Pick up your fortelling map from Northeast Iowa Montessori School, then journey through Nordic Fest collecting cards to complete the story. Finish your voyage and return to NEIM to receive your reward. The cost is $5.00 to participate. Don't forget to cool off in the outdoor play area (water play tables, toys and activities for preschool age children). Indoor air-conditioned play space, coloring area, family friendly restrooms, diaper-changing station, and semi-private nursing room open for family use. Small towels and free sunscreen provided. Small, healthy, kid-friendly snacks available for purchase. Water play area is free.

Troll's Trolley (Pokey Pete) - Tickets sold at corner of Washington and Water Streets
Friday 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:30 a.m. until Parade and Post-Parade until 6:30 p.m.
