Scott e-mails: "What do we hear from our county on the plans for the extension of the recreational trail to link up with the Prairie Farmer Trail? Now that the box culvert tunnel was finished last year under highway 52, I'm looking forward to seeing the trail extended. I hear other  visiting trail users say Decorah has a nice trail but short and wish it went some where other than a loop around the city. It is sad to see so few riders on the Prairie Farmer Trail each time I use it. The extension will greatly help Decorah. Calmar, Ridgeway and Cresco."

The Answer Person says: "Patience, Scott, patience!  The box culvert underneath Highway 52 was a necessary step, but just a first step.  County officials have raised over $2 million in donations so far, but more needs to be raised!

You can help by visiting the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation's Dry Run Trail donation page: http://www.inhf.org/what-we-do/trails/current-projects/dry-run-trail/  The page has beautiful photos and explanations of the Neste Valley Recreation Area and the Dry Run Trail.

The web page says the 8 miles of the Dry Run Trail, when completed, would provide Northeast Iowa with over 43 miles of connected trails, so your friends don't always have to loop the loop."
