Traffic accident causes $5,000 of damage

The Decorah Police Department reports two vehicles were damaged in a minor accident Sunday morning shortly after 11:00 a.m.

49-year-old Paul Dittmer of Decorah was stopped at a stop sign on Claiborne Drive at the intersection of Heivly Street and River Street in Decorah. Meanwhile, 60-year-old Brenda Hageman of Decorah was stopped at the intersection on Heivly Street. Hageman attempted to turn left onto Claiborne Drive and turned too sharply, striking the front of Dittmer's vehicle. Hageman reported that she did not see Dittmer as her outer mirror caused a blind spot.

The collision caused an estimated $5,000 of damaged combined. No injuries were reported.
