Jurors in the Brian Fullhart murder trial have heard testimony from two people who were there the night of the shooting. Torrey Willy and Margaret Block lived in the mobile home where Decorah native Zoanne Fullhart was shot on March 1st of 2018.
Willy testified that he was in the room when Brian fired a gun at Zoie. "He had it in his hand, pointed at Zoie," he told the court on Thursday. Willy also testified that Brian pointed the gun at Margaret and then at Torrey after shooting Zoie.
Defense attorney Matt Hoffey questioned Willy about discrepancies between today's testimony and statements made to the police after the shooting. He especially questioned Willy about statements that Brian "just snapped" and had been "acting weird" prior to the shooting.
Margaret Block backed up Willy's statements when she took the stand. She told the courtroom, "I saw Brian have the gun. I went to put my cigarette out. I heard the gunshot. I saw Zoie go down." She further testified that she saw Brian holding the gun after Zoie went down.
Hoffey questioned Block about her original statements to Cresco Police. Hoffey stated that Block originally told police, "We were all just talking, then, 'boom'."
Also Thursday, longtime friend of the Fullharts Summer Luster told the courtroom that the weekend before the shooting, Zoie took off her wedding ring in front of Brian, which caused him to tell her, "You're f***ing dead if you want a divorce."
Another full day of prosecution witnesses will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday in the Howard County Courthouse in Cresco.
