Higher water and sewer rates in Decorah pass their first hurdle

All seven members of the Decorah City council have voted in favor of raising the city's water and sewer rates by two percent for next year.

The resolution must be approved two more times by the city council before passing.

Under the proposal, base rates for water service would increase to $103 per year, while base sewer rates would be set at $108 per year.
