The Decorah City Council has given its go-ahead to an event in downtown Decorah on Sunday, September 8th. "The Decorah Heritage Dinner" will run from noon until midnight, closing part of Water Street and setting up tables so that a meal can be served on the street.
One of the organizers of the event, Nate Furler, told city council members Monday night the event would center around serving "a very elegant downtown meal." Just 100 tickets to the meal would be sold, with any money left over being donated to the Farmers Market's coupon program.
The dinner is being limited to 100 tickets so that, in the case of rain, the meal could also be moved indoors. "Heritage dinners" have been held in other towns recently, including in Dubuque.
