Floyd County could be the next county to house inmates in Decorah

When Howard County was building its new jail, supervisors turned to Winneshiek County to house Howard County inmates.
Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx says the project went fairly well, although a final financial report has not been finished yet.
Marx says he's now been contacted by Floyd County officials to discuss an inmate arrangement similar to the one done with Howard County. Floyd County's proposed $12 million law enforcement project is still in its early stages and that County also has had discussions with Mitchell County, which is closer to Floyd County. Marx says a decision "is not very imminent," but he's pleased Floyd County officials have been in contact.
