Public health drill Tuesday goes well

Wellington Place was among the care facilities participating in Tuesday's drill.

Winneshiek County Public Health, Winneshiek County Emergency Management, Northeast Iowa RSVP, Northeast Iowa Community Action Transit and local long term care facilities all participated in a public health drill on Tuesday morning at Vennehjem in Decorah.

The drill went so well that it ended more than one hour sooner than expected.  The emergency was held to test the efficiency of the distribution plan for vaccines, antiviral drugs, antibiotics, antitoxins and chemical antidotes.  The drill simulated an infectious respiratory disease affecting local long term care facilities.  Winneshiek County Emergency Government Manager Sean Snyder says the drill went very well.
