Sunday afternoon's storm did damage throughout Winneshiek County

A downed tree blocked traffic in the 500 block of East Broadway on Sunday night and Monday morning

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office Sunday afternoon reported that so many trees had been blown down across the entire county that it could not single out specific locations.

Calmar and Decorah residents were among those reporting storm damage as a strong front pushed through the area shortly after 4:00 p.m.  Wind gusts were clocked at 50 miles an hour.

With the strong winds came heavy rains.  A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through 12:00 noon Monday for Northeast Iowa, Southeastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

More storms are possible Monday, possibly causing flash flooding Monday afternoon and Monday night.  Strong winds and some hail are also possible, according to the National Weather Service Office in La Crosse.

The storms come as the NOAA Weather Radio transmitter in Decorah is off the air.  The NWS La Crosse Office says KXI60 in Decorah has been silenced by phone line problems.  It is not known when the station will be able to go back on the air.
