Decorah officially applies to be a Main Street community

The group working on getting "Main Street Iowa" status for Decorah officially filed its application with the State of Iowa's Department of Economic Development on Monday, the deadline for its application.

IDED staffers now will process the application and issue invitations for formal presentations to be made Tuesday, July 30th, in Des Moines.

The IDED will announce its decisions August 5th on which communities have been accepted into the Main Street Iowa program, which provides technical support to Iowa communities hoping to use their historical buildings as an asset in attracting tourism and investment in their community.
