Decorah resident and 1995 Luther College graduate Amalia Vagts has been accepted as a pastoral intern at the college for the next year. The internship is part of Vagts' process of applying to become a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA.) Her candidacy is sponsored and supported by her home congregation, Decorah's Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Vagts' internship is a collaboration between the Luther College student congregation with supervisor Pastor Anne Edison-Albright and two area congregations: Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkader and Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point.
At Luther, Vagts will plan, preach and lead worship as well as connect with students who are looking for ways to add spiritual practices into their daily lives.
