Should Decorah have a roundabout? It already had one!

The Answer Person says: "Yes, Virginia, this was a roundabout in Decorah--or, actually, West Decorah, as it was known then.

The present West Side Early Childhood Center actually had a street on all four sides of it--making it the island in the middle of a very large roundabout.

Quite a big has happened since that time.  Not only has part of the roundabout been filled in so that the street goes only on 3/4ths of the school building, but "West Decorah," which was once a separate town, has become part of Decorah--which also explains why there is no longer either a "Main Street" nor a "Water Street" on the west side of town.
