Will some Winneshiek County parking lots get resurfaced?

The parking lot at Winneshiek County's Smith Building could get resurfaced soon--but the prospects of the Courthouse parking lot getting resurfaced are slimmer.

County Engineer Lee Bjerke says contractors are proposing to use a microseal on the Smith Building lot--a fine rock aggregate with a light oil on top that will form a good parking surface.

But plans to resurface the Courthouse have run into a roadblock--literally.  A cargo container parked on the lot by a contractor doing repairs to the Courthouse building would be difficult to move out of the way.  County officials are working to find a solution to the situation, but postponing the Courthouse lot resurfacing until next year is a distinct possibility.
