A new association has been formed to support the continued development of the concept of Energy Districts as local institutions leading the clean energy transition in every county in Iowa.
"Clean Energy Districts of Iowa" is a new umbrella association established by energy districts in Winneshiek, Clayton, Howard, Dubuque, and Johnson counties. The association will provide services to existing Energy Districts, such as technical and financial tools and network coordination. It will also partner with local clean energy leaders interested in starting an Energy District.
In addition to the five founding Energy Districts, another Energy District has recently formed in Delaware County, and serious conversations are being held in Polk, Jackson and Allamakee counties.
The first meeting of "Clean Energy District of Iowa" was held in Elkader earlier this spring and included a meeting with Iowa 1st Congressional District representative Abby Finkenauer.
