Ask The Answer Person: New owners for some of Decorah's commercial properties?

(decorahnews.com readers have been asking questions about possible new ownership for several commercial properties in town: "I see that (--) has been sold. Have you heard what the plans are?" "Has there been any update on (--)?" and "I heard that (--) has been sold?  What can you tell us?"

The Answer Person says: "With commercial property sales, it's easy to say 'the property has been sold,' but that's not officially true until the deed to the property changes hands.  So we've been checking to see whether deeds have been filed by new owners--and they haven't.  The only exception is the former 6 Day Discount Furniture property on College Drive, which now is the property of Waukon State Bank.  With the other properties people are asking about, there might be an agreement for the purchase of the property--but the transfers won't become official until the property deeds have been transferred."
