Rainfall continues to create problems for some local roads

As rainstorms continue to pass over this area, local gravel roads continue to suffer.

Winneshiek County Supervisors have been getting an earful of complaints lately, which led them on Monday to point out the County Highway Department has been working hard to keep the situation under control.  But with rain-soaked ground, that can be difficult.

Supervisor Mark Kuhn suggested the county should do some posting on social media to point out just how much money the county is spending to maintain roads this spring.  County Board Chair John Logsdon noted, "It's usually the people doing the damage (to the roads) who complain (about their condition)."

County Engineer Lee Bjerke was more to the point, stating, "If only it would ever stop raining."
