Neste Valley Campground may get additional funding

The Neste Valley Recreation Area just south of Decorah has been part of Winneshiek County Conservation's facilities since December of 2016.  Located between Calmar and Decorah on Highway 52, the park will serve as one of the trailheads for the Dry Run Trail, a future 8-mile trail that will connect the Trout Run Trail to the Prairie Farmer Recreational Trail.  It will also include a campground.

To that end, Winneshiek County Conservation Director Barbara Schroeder met Monday with Winneshiek County Supervisors to ask that any remaining funds from this year's conservation budget be designated as going toward the cost of developing the campground.  Supervisors liked the idea, but asked Schreoder to return when this fiscal year is over, so she can ask for a specific amount of money to be transferred.
