UTV accident Sunday night injures two

A Decorah teen faces multiple charges following a UTV accident on Coldwater Creek Road Sunday night.

16-year-old Cael Gulrud was eastbound on Coldwater Creek Road when he lost control of his 2016 Kawasaki UTV, causing the UTV to go into the ditch, hit a fence and roll, coming to rest partially on top of the driver. 

Gulrud and a passenger, 16-year-old Carter Falck of Decorah, were both injured and received medical treatment.  Gulrud was airlifted from the scene. 

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says the accident remains under investigation with multiple charges pending including state traffic charges and county UTV ordinance civil violations. 

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Cresco Fire, and EMS.
