Letter to the Editor: Honor the American flag on Memorial Day

(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Charles Lore of Decorah):

While traveling last weekend, I drove through several towns that had the American Flag on display for Armed Forces Day.  You don't need to be a Veteran to understand the reason for honoring our Country, our Flag and our Country's Veterans by displaying the American Flags.

Parents have used the upcoming Memorial Day holiday to teach and show their children how to respect and honor our American Flag by attending a Military Presentation, Parades, decorating grave sites (seeing all the American Flags on Veteran's Markers) and yes, even Family Picnics.

To see and feel the importance of the American Flag and our Veterans, please attend one of these events this coming Memorial Day.  Thank you and have a safe weekend and Memorial Day.
