Decorah Police are reminding the public to buckle up when driving

The Decorah Police Department is using the Memorial Day weekend to remind all drivers of the importance of seat belt use.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in 2017 there were over 10,000 unbuckled vehicle occupants who were killed in crashes nationwide.  That's why a national "Click It or Ticket" campaign is running now through June 2nd.  Last year in Iowa, four deaths were blamed on lack of use of seat belts.

The Decorah Police Department is reminding everyone to buckle up, every trip, every time.
