Contracts have been officially signed for the Winneshiek County Jail project

The remodeling of the Winneshiek County Jail can now proceed.
Winneshiek County Supervisors have officially approved two contracts--one for the general remodeling and a second for the cameras and other electrical work. David Finholt Construction of Decorah was the low bidder on general contracting with their bid of $142,688. See Electric of Decorah submitted a bid for electrical work totaling $434,653.
The project calls for updating some security cameras and installing additional security cameras as part of an overall update of the jail's computer network. The current jail technology is nearly 20 years old. Also specified is an update to the jail control room and the addition of video visitation capabilities. The project will be split over two county budgets.
