New playground surface scheduled for Carrie Lee playground

The Interim Decorah Community School Board has approved a bid of $111,827 by Boland Recreation of Marshalltown for a new playground surface at Carrie Lee Elementary. The new surface will be a "poured in place" system, meaning one continuous surface, rather than the current interlocking pads. The new system should have longer life than the current pads that allow for water seepage, freezing and consequential erosion/degradation.
