Decorah Chiefs 4-H Club uses a grant to help plant trees at the Decorah Dog Park

There are now new trees at the Decorah Dog Park in Freeport.

The Decorah Chiefs 4-H Club applied the "seed money" from a DuPont Pioneer Seed Grant to purchase trees to plant at the new Decorah Dog Park.  The trees chosen will help diversify the tree canopy in the area and will create habitat, filtering storm water and CO2.

The 4-H Club had help from the Decorah Parks and Recreation Department.  Park-Rec's Robin Sailor talked with 4-H Club members about how diseases are affecting trees in Decorah.  She also discussed how to choose appropriate trees, and how to care for the new trees.

The 4-Hers visited the park and planted the trees that had been purchased in part through the DuPont Pioneer grant.
