Sheriff's Deputies called to Thursday morning traffic accident in Freeport

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office responded to a Thursday morning traffic accident on River Road at Moellers Drive in Freeport.

Deputies say 20-year-old Nicholas Folstad of Decorah and 17-year-old David Johanningmeier of Decorah were driving south on River Road when Folstad signaled to make a left turn onto Moellers Drive and stopped for oncoming traffic.  Johanningmeier was unable to stop and struck the back of Folstad's vehicle. 

Johanningmeier was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control.  Folstad was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by ambulance with minor injuries.  The accident caused $8,500 in total damages.
