A new doctor will join Winneshiek Medical Center Decorah Clinic late this summer. A family medicine and obstetrics physician, Dr. John Vogel will begin seeing patients in August.
Dr. Vogel's special interests include: obstetrics, lifestyle medicine, diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. He comes to the area from California, serving in the US military as Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Uniformed Services University and Family Medicine Faculty Physician on the Travis Air Force Base.
Dr. Vogel says, "My family and I chose to come home to Iowa from California to be closer to family. We chose Decorah for the combination of the beautiful Driftless region, the opportunity to practice full-spectrum family medicine, Mayo Clinic's strong reputation, and most importantly, the town of Decorah's strong community and dedication to culture, education, and wellness."
Dr. Vogel graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University. He completed his family medicine residency at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California and his Faculty Development Fellowship from University of California, San Francisco.
