State Data Center says Winneshiek County has lost population

Winneshiek County is losing population, according to the latest population estimates from the State Data Center.
The latest estimate of Winneshiek County's population puts it at 20,029 people. That's a drop of 4.9 percent from the official 2010 census figures.
Howard, Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette and Chickasaw counties all lost population in the latest Data Center estimates. Only Bremer County, which registered a 2.8 percent population increase in 8 years, showed positive figures.
