Will the first degree murder trial of Decorah native Brian Fullhart take place May 6th?

Decorah native Brian Fullhart is scheduled to go on trial on first degree murder charges May 6th in Howard County District Court.  Fullhart faces charges in connection with the death of his wife, 34-year-old Zoanne Fullhart of Decorah, last March in Cresco.

However, Fullhart's attorney has filed a motion asking Judge Linda Fangman to postpone the trial due to the unavailability of an expert witness.  The prosecuting attorneys—Assistant Iowa Attorney General Scott Brown and Howard County Attorney Kevin Schoeberl—have filed an opposing motion stating "The State is ready to try the case."  The motion also states "because of current schedules..an additional continuance may be a substantial one."

Judge Fangman has not yet issued a ruling on the motions.
