Oh, Say Can You See? The City of Decorah reverses its flag display policy, adding back three veterans observances

The City of Decorah has added back several Veterans holidays to its flag display policy after critical comments by several area veterans

City Manager Chad Bird says the administrative policy is being amended immediately to include Vietnam Veterans Day, Victory over Europe Day and Victory over Japan Day on the City's flag calendar.

"The decision to remove certain dates from the calendar was not meant to be disrespectful to any person or group," said Mayor Lorraine Borowski. She added, "The City was simply looking to be more mindful of the time spent on flag displays. Our community's veterans are very dear to us and, as a community, we are thankful for their service and sacrifice for our personal freedoms."
